Inspired by Senge's philosophy, the young Akognosians came together in 2017 to set up “ PRATITI” which aims to educate girls from lower socio economic background. This unique initiative would help in raising the level of literacy in the country leading to a brighter India.
‘When you educate a man, you educate an individual and when you educate a woman, you educate an entire Nation’
Over decades, the power of education in empowering and transforming communities has been an enduring insight.
“Investment in girls’ education may well be the highest-return investment available in the developing world.” (Larry Summers, when Chief Economist at the World Bank). However, the Indian girl child, considered below her male counterparts, is deprived of this gift, furthering the false belief that girls are not worthy of literacy.
Only 3 out of 10 girls who enter class 1 complete class 10. At primary school level, over 45% of girls dropout of school and this increases to over 73% by the time the child reaches class 10
Education for girls has a catalytic effect on every dimension of development: lower child and maternal mortality rates, increased education attainment by daughters and sons ; higher productivity and improved environmental management.
